This is my studio as it appears today, this is where I come and make music, or funny noises, as my wife and close family inform me. So many instruments, and I'm not that good on the keyboards, but I do a little practice everyday, usually about 10 minutes, just to keep my hand in, so to speak. My last purchase, was an Apple Mac Pro, this is nearly two years old now, I'm running a full version of Cubase SX3, interfacing through IEEE 1394 (Firewire) to a Hercules 16/12 FW running at 96kHz. The Hercules has issues, it sometimes won't talk to the Apple Mac, so I'm seriously thinking it maybe time to replace it, I've been looking at the Motu range of firewire devices, but until I raise some cash, I'm going to have to soldier on with what I've got, I have a Doepfer A100 modular synth which I'm going to put up for sale, but I'm not sure if that will raise enough funds to purchase a Motu unit. The mixers you can see are two Soundcraft Spirit Folio SX daisy chained together, and mounted in a self made chassis. If you look at the larger images you should be able to make out all the sound devices I use, they are all linked via two MIDI expander units, there is also another PC directly controlling the Clavia Nord Modular Rack synthesiser. Spelling of synthesiser is correct in English, Americans spell it Synthesizer, don't ask me why they just do. I usually dismantle the studio once every couple of years, it's quite a good execise to do, as I often find something isn't working just as it should, so by doing a rebuild, I sort out all the little bugs, and it allows me to fine tune the gear. |
